Young People Step Up to Keep America Strong -
Stories from Everyday Young
HEROES
Jason Crowe, 14, of Newburgh, IN. Since the age of 10, Jason
has worked locally, nationally, and internationally to bring attention
to the condition of the Bosnian people as a result of war and
to have a peace statue sent to Bosnia from the kids of the world
to demonstrate their desire to live in a world free from war and
genocide. At the age of 12, Jason created "Operation Yellow
Bow for Kosovo," a campaign to raise money for Kosovo, show
concern for the troops, and call attention to the atrocities of
ethnic cleansing and war. Later that year, he began organizing
an international youth group that will meet with a delegation
of Bosnian young people, representing the various ethnic groups
of the Balkans, to promote peace, conflict resolution, and cultural
diversity, and to develop a plan to help the youth of Bosnia rebuild.
In addition to all this, Jason publishes The Informer, a newspaper
that discusses issues affecting youth and shows kids they can
make a difference by recognizing kids for their amazing service.
The Informer has subscribers in 28 states, DC, and 15 foreign
countries, and all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
